Laura Rico was born in Seville, Spain, in the summer of 1979. From a very young age she became interested in everything arts related, so much so, that she studied Piano and Music Theory at the High School Manuel Castillo of Seville.
Laura has also studied aspects of Composition and Contemporary Music through specialist courses taught by Spain’s most outstanding contemporary composers such as: Cristóbal Halffter, José María Sánchez-Verdú, José Manuel López López and César Camarero, among others.
Reflecting her father’s love for the visual arts, and having a strong musical background has had an intense and positive influence on Laura’s present work.
The passing of time and heart brought Laura to Limerick City, in the Midwest of Ireland, at the end of 2006.
In January of 2007 she commenced her visual arts education in Gallery 75 with Paul Quane and, shortly after, in Doras Luimni with Jean Ryan Hakizimana
In September of 2007 Laura was accepted to Limerick College of Further Education where she studied Art and Design FETAC level 5 and an Advanced Certificate in Arts FETAC level 6, finishing in May 2009.
Laura received a residency bursary for Contact Studios and is a member of Limerick Printmakers Studio and Gallery since August 2009. She has been full time artist working in both since.
